MESSAGE SENT TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE MID SUSSEX CHOIR 25th April 2023
Hi everyone,
I do hope that you are all keeping well and looking forward to the Bank Holiday weekend and the Coronation. Let’s hope that the weather improves and at least warms up.
After some delay I have now been able to count up the votes for this year’s Christmas music made at the last rehearsal of the term. The result is as follows (click on link):
Christmas Music 2023: Result of Poll:
There is no doubt that the Manchester Carols is/are the winner with Sing as the second choice. We have been able to secure the music for both so we are all set to go!
The venue has changed as we are going back to our usual Christmas Concert home, St Wilfrid’s Haywards Heath. I will be issuing further details nearer the start of term on 6th September 2023 when rehearsals will be held as usual at the Methodist Church Haywards Heath.
Finally, a reminder about the Summer sessions which are enjoyable and free. Bring your friends if they want to experience singing in a friendly choir with no obligation. Keep the dates clear, they are Wednesday 7th June 2023, 14th June 2023 and 21st June 2023 usual time at the HH Methodist Church in Perrymount Road.

Hi everyone,
As promised I detail below the information you will need about the concert on the 1st April 2023.
Final rehearsal
Wednesday 29th March 2023 as normal.
Pre-Concert Rehearsal
Saturday 1st April 2023 Please arrive promptly at 2.00 pm. We should finish around 4.30/5.00 pm.
Black music folders are available for those choir members who do not already have one.
Dress Code
All black for ladies which can include trousers/yellow flowers and black shirts and trousers for men/yellow bow ties.
Flowers and Ties will be available at the rehearsal on the 29th March.
Concert Saturday 1st April 2023 Haywards Heath Methodist Church 7.30 pm
Please arrive before 7.00 pm and meet in the back hall at the church where personal belongings can be left during the performance. This will be available for 5.00 pm onwards.
Further dates for your diaries:
Taster Sessions
Wednesday 7th June 2023, 14th June 2023 and 21st June 2023.
Members are invited to perform their party pieces during the last session.
And provisional dates for the rest of the year (to be confirmed).
AGM
Wednesday 27th September 2023 6.30 pm.
Autumn Term
Start of rehearsals Wednesday 6th September 2023
Half term Wednesday 25th October 2023

URGENT MESSAGE SENT TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE MID SUSSEX CHOIR 15th December 2022
Cancellation of Concert 17th December 2022
Hi everyone,
I have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the concert we were due to perform on Saturday 17th December. Although the weather is said to improve on Sunday it is too late for us. There is still a lot of ice on the roads and pavements and freezing temperatures are forecast overnight for the next few days. This will increase the risk of black ice, which is lethal to the elderly, amongst whom I count myself.
In addition, a number of you are suffering from the heavy cold that is circulating and some of you have covid. It is a perfect storm and I do not wish to put any of our members or the audience at risk.
As regards the return of music Alan has said that music can be handed in at the church in Perrymount Road on Friday morning between 9.30 and 12.00. If this is not possible, we are trying to organise other arrangements and I will let you know as soon as these are agreed.
If you have purchased tickets and on behalf of friends and family, can you please let them know that the concert is cancelled. Full refunds will be given.
I know that you will be disappointed and we must look forward to the Spring term starting in January. I will let you have details soon.
If you have any problems arising from any of this please let me know.

URGENT MESSAGE SENT TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE MID SUSSEX CHOIR 13th December 2022
Cancellation of Rehearsal Wednesday 14th December 2022
Hi everyone,
I am sorry but I have had to make the decision to cancel our rehearsal this Wednesday (tomorrow) . This is because of the still treacherous conditions underfoot which are extremely dangerous. Although the snow is thawing slightly during the day it is freezing again in the evening. I have been told and seen that the conditions in Perrymount Road are not good and not likely to improve in 24 hours.
I am also considering whether or not we go ahead with the concert on Saturday and will review the position on Thursday. I will let you know that decision then.
I am also aware that a number of our members have caught the awful cold that is circulating. Can I trouble you to let me know if for whatever reason you do not intend to perform in the concert, if it should go ahead.
Finally, I would remind everyone that all music should be returned to Alan at the Methodist Church by Saturday evening whatever happens.

Christmas Concert Arrangements
Hi Everyone,
Somewhat belatedly I am writing to let you know the arrangements for our concert on the 17th. As you know we have had to move from St Wilfrid’s to The Methodist Church and we do not have the usual availability.
As a result, the following will apply:
5.30 pm Meet in Church to organise seating and to practice line up.
6.00 pm to 7.00 pm Final rehearsal of selected items.
7.00 pm to 7.30 pm Wesley Hall practice line up and change into concert dress if necessary.
The early arrivals in the audience will be held in the café area until the rehearsal/warm up has
finished at 7.00 pm.
The Dress Code is all black for the ladies with red flowers and DJs for the men with red bow ties.
Flowers and bow ties will be distributed on the evening.
Our rehearsal on the previous Wednesday (14th) will be at the Methodist Church as usual.
I will be at the rehearsal next Wednesday to answer any queries.

MESSAGE SENT TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE MID SUSSEX CHOIR 13th AUGUST 2022
Hi Everyone,
I hope that you are all well and enjoying the Summer despite the very hot temperatures. I am pleased to be able to confirm that we will be returning to live rehearsals on Wednesday 7th September for our Christmas Concert. We will meet at 7.45pm at the Methodist Church in Perrymount Road Haywards Heath and follow our usual pattern which will still include some of the revised Covid-19 restrictions. The concert which will take place on 17 December 2022 will be at St Wilfrid’s, Haywards Heath.
As to the music content of the concert there have been discussions with Andrew and members of the committee and it has been decided that the following works will form the main items:
Seigmeister Carol Medley
Vaughan Williams Fantasia on Christmas Carols
Handel Messiah – a limited selection of choruses
In addition, it is intended that we will include the collection Peace on Earth and the usual carols for audience participation including Rutter Carols, of course. Other items will be arranged around the main items.
Because of the time constraints it has not been possible to give you the opportunity to vote as in previous years, for which I apologise. I will discuss the voting system and other matters with you at the AGM of which more later in the term.
I am really looking forward to meeting up again and singing!
